When Nepal Called: Abhishek’s Family Adventurous Trip Review with Thrillophilia

Nepal is a land that feels like it’s been plucked straight from a storybook. Snow-capped peaks, vibrant temples, and ancient traditions make it an irresistible destination. For Abhishek and his family, this trip was about exploring each and every part of the mountains and creating memories which they’d make.

Their adventure, planned with Thrillophilia, turned into a kaleidoscope of experiences filled with laughter, awe, and those little moments that make a trip unforgettable.

From Roots to Reverence

The journey began in Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha. The air here felt different—like it had stories from 623 B.C. still echoing through the trees. As they strolled through the sacred gardens, flanked by monasteries from across the globe, a deep calm settled over the family. The Bodhi Viharas seemed alive, filled with a spiritual vibe, and a peaceful demeanour.

It felt like the noise of the outer world had faded, and all that we were left with was our inner thoughts and gratitude for being in each other’s presence.

What caught everyone’s attention were the vihars built by different countries – each one a masterpiece of cultural expression. The Japanese vihara stood minimalist and tranquil, while the Thai vihara dazzled with its golden hues.

Abhishek’s daughter was particularly fascinated by the towering structures. “Does Buddha live here?” he whispered innocently, sparking a wave of laughter among the family.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, the family reflected on the tranquillity of the place. “It’s like Lumbini is breathing peace into us,” one of them said. And they weren’t wrong – every corner of the garden seemed to emanate a calm that made the chaos of their everyday lives feel like a distant memory.

Wild Whispers in Chitwan

Chitwan welcomed them with the rustling of leaves and a symphony of crickets. The Tharu Cultural Program that night became an unexpected favourite. The rhythmic dances and vibrant costumes had everyone tapping their feet, even the usually reserved dad of the family!

The next morning, the jungle called. The thrill of spotting a rhino in its natural habitat was unmatched on a Jeep Safari. The guide’s whispers of “Stay quiet, they’re close” added to the adrenaline. But nothing compared to his daughter’s face when they spotted a tiger paw print on the trail.

Watching the interplay of life in the wild, the family understood the delicate balance of nature. And then came the moment that sealed it—an elephant calf curiously ambling towards their Jeep, only to be shooed back gently by its mother.

"We’ve been to safaris before, but this was magical," Abhishek mentioned.

Where Mountains Kiss the Sky

Pokhara was where the magic of Nepal truly unfolded. Known as the gateway to the Annapurna ranges, this lakeside city offered views that felt almost unreal. The day started early with a trip to Sarangkot to witness the sunrise.

Wrapped in cosy shawls, the family huddled together as the first rays of sunlight painted the Annapurna peaks in shades of gold and crimson. It was a sight so mesmerising that even the usually restless kid stood still.

Fewa Lake, with its calm waters, became the family’s favourite spot. They rowed a small boat to the island temple of Tal Barahi, where the little one delighted in feeding the fish while the adults soaked in the serenity.

One of the most exciting parts of Pokhara was the caves. The Gupteshwor Cave, with its natural limestone formations, felt like stepping into another world. Abhishek’s daughter, flashlight in hand, declared herself the “explorer of the day,” much to everyone’s amusement.

And across the road was the Devi’s Fall which roared with power. Its cascading waters were a stark contrast to the stillness of the caves. Pure bliss, as you say it.

Kathmandu’s Kaleidoscope of Wonders

Kathmandu brought a blend of the ancient and the spiritual. The grandeur of Patan Durbar Square left them in awe. “How did they build this without cranes?” the youngest asked, staring at the intricate carvings. It was moments like these that made the trip special.

At Swayambhunath, the “Monkey Temple,” a playful scuffle with a cheeky monkey over a snack became a story the family would tell for years. Meanwhile, the spinning of prayer wheels added a serene rhythm to their exploration.

Nagarkot was the cherry on top. Watching the sunset paint the horizon over the peaks was surreal. It was a moment of quiet reflection, the kind where words feel too small, and all you can do is hold on to the people next to you.

Before bidding farewell to Nepal, they soared on a cable car ride up Chandragiri Hills. As the Kathmandu Valley stretched below them, there was a collective realisation—this wasn’t just a trip. It was a journey of shared stories, laughter, and experiences that stitched the family closer.

A Journey to Remember

Nepal was a reminder of nature’s grandeur, history’s depth, and the joy of family.

Reflecting on the trip, Abhishek shared his thoughts: “This was one of the best family vacations we’ve had. Nepal is magical, and Thrillophilia made sure every part of our journey was smooth and memorable. The youngest one was happy, we were relaxed, and we came back with so many stories to tell.

The trip ended, but the memories stayed – as vivid as the sunrise in Sarangkot, as thrilling as the safari in Chitwan, and as serene as the still waters of Fewa Lake.
