From Dreams to Destinations: Ashish’s Review for a Trip to Thailand
"With each trip, your bucket list grows shorter, and your heart grows fuller."
It's funny the way a vacation gets planned sometimes. It was one of those weekends that made you think you could clean the entire house all by yourself. As I cleaned, I discovered some old magazines, and within one of them, I found a piece of paper.
'Our Bucket List' - A list I made with my partner a while ago. It had all sorts of crazy things in it, along with some of the places that we dreamt of traveling. It was too cute to keep to myself, so I called her over to show her what I had found.
''Hey, look! there's Thailand! You were so determined for it to be our first travel spot, remember?'' I exclaimed.
"Yes, but I no longer want it to be there. I want to strike it off the list ASAP! Would you help me with that?" she asked me back.
We both shared a smile at that, as I realized how long it had been since we dreamt about the trip. Together, we were now determined to dive into a new adventure, ready to strike off Thailand from our bucket list.
Through Temples and Treasures
Just a week ago, we were home thinking about the fun we'd have in Thailand, and then we were there. After all, we got a second chance at ticking off adventures from our bucket list.
The dream trip had begun, and we kicked it off with a sightseeing tour of Bangkok.
The first tourist spot that we visited was Wat Traimit, where we got a chance to admire the stunning Golden Buddha. As we stepped inside the temple, we were engulfed in a wave of serenity. I had never found myself so immersed in a religious site before.
Surrounded by several visitors, we felt a sense of deep connection with something much larger than us. The fine details and historical importance of the temple left us awestruck.
Next, we headed to Wat Benchamabophit, also popular by the name 'Marble Temple'. Its white marble architecture, which was a blend of European and Thai styles, was simply mesmerizing. The calm ambiance was topped by the magical sounds of monks chanting prayers, which created a mystical aura. We wandered across the temple grounds, looking at several statues and gardens, taking in the spiritual vibes.
After exploring the spiritual sites, we visited the Gems Gallery. The wide range of gemstones was such a visual treat! Each gem sparkled with brilliance, and I couldn't stop thinking about the stories behind them. In the end, we visited King Power to indulge in a luxury shopping experience.
There were so many brands and authentic Thai souvenirs and products to choose from, at unbelievable discounts!
A Longtail Boat Adventure
Krabi 4 Island Tour on a Longtail Boat - Yes, I was the most thrilled for this tour of all the activities in the itinerary. We woke up a bit early as I couldn't contain my excitement, and reached the pier, where the landscapes were drenched in sunrise colors.
We hopped into the longtail boat which stood in the crystal clear waters, and started gliding to the first stop - Koh Poda Island. We enjoyed snorkeling in turquoise waters, surrounded by colorful marine life. I felt like I had entered a world of fantasy, as colorful fish swam beside me.
Our next stop was Chicken Island, which was literally shaped like a chicken if observed from a distance. With white sands stretching along clear waters, Ko Tup Island and Phra Nang Cave Beach seemed like a paradise of natural wonders. As gentle waves washed our feet, we walked along the coast, taking in the breathtaking views and enjoying the peaceful ambiance.
As the sun began to set in the calm waters, and the sky turned from blue to orange, I realized this day would always hold a special place in my heart.
From Big Buddhas to Fantasy Shows
Right when we thought our adventures in Thailand couldn't get more exciting - things took a turn with the Maya Bay and Phi Phi Island Tour.
Zooming across the sparkling waves in a speedboat was an experience that set our hearts racing. To add to the charm of the boat ride, were the breathtaking views all around. From lush green landscapes to towering cliffs in the middle of the turquoise waters - everything felt magical. Maya Bay captivated us with its crystal-clear waters, stunning cliffs, soft sands, and vibrant marine life.
After the island tour, we visited the popular Big Buddha, which was an impressive statue standing over 140 feet tall. It was one of the places that made us rethink the perspectives that we held about things in life.
Looking at the statue, I reflected on the journey lying ahead of us. We also went on a relaxing walk in the surrounding gardens and enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, admiring the panoramic views of Phuket.
By then, we had covered almost all the places that we intended to do, but something was missing. That was when my partner suggested a visit to the Old Town, where we explored vibrant streets full of art and culture. We even tried some of the local snacks like Sheet Seaweed and Som Tam from the street vendors.
Finally, attending the Phuket Fantasea Show was the perfect way to end our adventures in Thailand. It was incredible to watch the performances that brilliantly combined entertainment and tradition.
And just like that, it was time to strike off one destination from our bucket list. Our Thailand adventure was a blast, blending stunning landscapes, cultural experiences, and spirituality.
