A Birthday Soiree: Karishma’s Dreamy Greece Trip Review with Thrillophilia
I had my eyes set on Greece, especially on Santorini, ever since I saw the song "Meherbaan" from the movie Bang Bang.
The stunning whitewashed buildings, blue domes, and pink bougainvillaea flowers caught my heart. It looked like a pearl sitting in a sea of deep blue diamonds to me. The dream of visiting this place stayed with me for years.
Then, a few months ago, while I was driving, that same song played again- almost 10 years later. In that moment, Greece came rushing back into my mind. I could see it all, just from hearing the music. That was it- I knew I had to go. So, I turned to my very own Hrithik Roshan (my husband!) and told him about my wish. And what did he do? He planned the perfect birthday trip to Greece with Thrillophilia!
A Love Letter to Santorini
Staying in Santorini felt like living in a dream. Our hotel was perched on the edge of a cliff, with views that could steal your breath away. But what really made it special was the surprise my husband planned for my birthday.
I woke up to a beautiful morning, the sun rising over the horizon, and there he was all smiles. “I’ve got something for you,” he said, as he led me to the pool.
Waiting for me was a floating breakfast tray, with my favourite pastries, fresh fruit, and, of course, a little cake. “I thought you deserved something extra special,” he said, his eyes full of love. I couldn’t help but smile.
We spent that morning in the pool, just the two of us, sipping coffee, laughing, and soaking in the views. It wasn’t just the food or the setting; it was the thoughtfulness behind it that made it unforgettable. Later that day, we wandered through the cobbled streets of Santorini, hand in hand, but nothing compared to that sweet birthday breakfast.
An Evening to Remember
Oia village was everything I imagined and more. After spending our afternoon exploring the streets, filled with small shops and cafés, we found ourselves a perfect spot to watch the sunset. It’s not an exaggeration to say it was the most beautiful sunset we’d ever seen. As the sky turned from gold to pink and then a deep purple, we just sat there, lost in the moment.
Later, we walked into a small, cosy restaurant for dinner. They had set up a table by the window, overlooking the sea. With a bottle of champagne to celebrate, we toasted to more sunsets like this. “Happy birthday, Karishma,” he said softly, clinking his glass with mine.
There was no need for grand gestures or fancy words; the evening itself was perfect in its simplicity. That night in Oia felt like a fairytale, one we would always remember.
Our Cruise Escapade
Our adventure in Mykonos started with a beautiful cruise on the Aegean Sea. The sun was warm, the water sparkled, and the gentle breeze made it all feel like a scene from a movie. It was peaceful, just the two of us, soaking in the beauty of the sea and sky, with nothing else on our minds.
After the cruise, we jumped into a guided tour of Mykonos that took us to Kalafatis Beach. My husband, being the foodie he is, insisted we try the local seafood at a traditional taverna. I went for a grilled lamb dish, and both were absolutely delicious! The village had this quiet, authentic vibe that made us feel like we’d stepped back in time. The tour ended with a walk through Mykonos Town, where the famous Windmills and Little Venice stole the show.
By the end of the day, we were completely in love with Mykonos- its beauty, its charm, and the unforgettable moments we shared there.
A Greek Farewell in Athens
Our final day in Athens was spent doing something we both love- eating and shopping. We wandered through the local markets, picking up little souvenirs to remind us of our trip.
But the best part? Our mini food tour. We sampled all sorts of Greek delights- baklava, loukoumades (Greek honey doughnuts), and spanakopita (spinach pie). Each bite was a little taste of Greece, and we delighted in every single one.
As we sat at a small café in the bustling district, sipping on iced coffee, I looked at him and smiled. This trip had been everything I could’ve wished for, and ending it with a day like this felt just right.
See you again, Thrillophilia.
This birthday trip was a blast! The fun I had, the places we went and the sunsets we saw…. unexplainable and irreplaceable.
I had my own Meherbaan moment!
I have to give a huge thank you to the team at Thrillophilia, especially Aman and Ujjwal. From the moment Aman started assisting us, everything felt smooth and well-organized. He was patient with all my queries and made sure we were comfortable every step of the way. He even planned all the special birthday arrangements with my husband while keeping it a surprise. So I must say that it was not just about making our trip happen but making it happen perfectly.
Ujjwal played a big role in my decision to book with Thrillophilia, and he was there for us throughout the trip, answering any questions we had, no matter how small. Their support made our trip even more enjoyable, and I’ll definitely be travelling with Thrillophilia again.
