Bollywood Dreams and Swiss Adventures: Kokalla’s Fairytale Switzerland Trip Review with Thrillophilia
I grew up watching Bollywood films and dancing to their popular songs. My favourites were always the ones where they would shoot in beautiful foreign destinations. I would imagine myself as Sridevi in the movie Chandni dancing with Rishi Kapoor to the song ‘Mitwa’. The beautiful meadows and snow mountains are in the background, I am wrapped in a pretty saree… just dreamy and dramatic.
Now that I am older, I am no less of a star myself! Still, lip-syncing to all trending songs and the best part?
Now, I actually went to those mountains! But with my own Rishi Kapoor! Here is how my dreamy Switzerland trip with Thrillophilia went!
Lucerne's Magic
We stayed in Lucerne for four days and while it is a city the vibe was completely out of the world! With adorable red-roofed buildings and cobblestone streets, it was just the perfect site to start our trip. Without wasting any time we left to explore the city. We walked across the famous Chapel Bridge and enjoyed the views of Lake Lucerne. Later, we even stopped at a café to try some local Swiss chocolate and pastries, making the day even sweeter.
Another fabulous experience was Mount Titlis. My husband and I were bubbling with excitement as we approached the world’s first 360-degree revolving cable car to visit Mount Titlis. As the cable car started its journey, we laughed and tried to spot the best views, spinning around to take in the stunning mountain scenery. Suddenly, we spotted a group of goats grazing nearby, and wondered how lucky they were to be enjoying the view as much as we were!
As we reached the top, the breathtaking snow-capped peaks greeted us. We played in the snow, making silly snowballs and taking goofy pictures. The ride down was just as fun, with the cable car turning slowly, giving us one last look at the incredible landscape. It was a day filled with laughter, stunning views, and making memories!
Top of the Europe
Our next adventure took us to Jungfraujoch, the highest point of the continent. As we boarded the scenic train, I felt a familiar thrill, almost as if I were stepping into a Bollywood film. The train wound through stunning landscapes, each turn revealing more beauty- lush valleys, sparkling lakes, and towering mountains.
Arriving at Jungfraujoch felt like entering a winter wonderland. Stepping off the train, I gazed at the vast Aletsch Glacier stretching endlessly before us. I could hardly believe I was finally here, in a place I had only dreamed of. With my husband by my side, we laughed and danced in the snow, recreating those iconic scenes from my favourite films.
We explored the ice palace and took a moment to savour the crisp mountain air. A cosy café welcomed us with delicious Swiss fondue, and I couldn’t resist indulging. As we savoured every bite, the views of the snow-capped peaks reminded me that this was more than just a trip; it was a dream come true.
A Chocolate Waterfall
Our day started with a scenic train ride to Zurich, with the gorgeous landscapes outside making it feel like we were travelling through a postcard- rolling hills, sparkling lakes, and charming little towns. After a hearty Swiss breakfast, we made our way to Lindt’s Home of Chocolate. Walking into the shop felt like stepping into a dream, with the delicious smell of chocolate filling the air. By the time we were done, we had bought so much that we joked we wouldn’t need to buy any other gifts for our family- chocolate for everyone!
With our sweet cravings satisfied, we hit the road for a scenic drive to the famous Rhine Falls. The sight of Europe’s largest waterfall was simply breathtaking. Standing by the edge, we felt the cool mist from the falls on our faces as we soaked in the stunning sight.
Still popping chocolates from our earlier spree, I turned to my husband and said, "Imagine if the Rhine Falls were covered in chocolate!" We both laughed at the thought, munching away as the falls roared in the background. At one point, I stepped in a puddle while trying to capture the perfect photo, and my husband couldn't stop laughing at my wet shoes.
Our Swiss Alpine Adventure
Our day trip to Interlaken and Grindelwald was one of the most scenic and serene experiences of our entire Switzerland trip. Interlaken, nestled between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, was everything I imagined- charming streets, cosy cafes, and a stunning view of snow-capped peaks.
Then, we made our way to Grindelwald. The village, set at the foot of the iconic Eiger Mountain, was straight out of a fairytale. We took a short walk to explore the little lanes and cosy chalets, but the highlight was the cable car ride. It gave us a bird's-eye view of the spectacular alpine scenery below- majestic mountains, lush valleys, and the picturesque village itself. We even spotted a few paragliders swooping gracefully through the sky, and for a second, I wished I was brave enough to try it myself!
The next part of our adventure took us to Glacier 3000. The breathtaking panoramic views at the summit were unlike anything we'd seen before. Walking across the Peak Walk- Europe's only suspension bridge connecting two mountain peaks- was both thrilling and surreal.
Wrapping our Swiss Present
As our magical Swiss trip came to an end, I found myself reflecting on the memories we created and the experiences we shared. It felt like the perfect wrapping for a beautiful gift- our time in Switzerland, filled with laughter, breathtaking views, and heartwarming moments.
I also want to highlight our experience with Thrillophilia. I can’t recommend them enough for any future travels.
