Monsoon Magic: Nikita’s Meghalaya Adventure with Thrillophilia
The phone rang twice before Nikita picked up, her voice warm but tinged with longing. “Hey! It feels like forever since we’ve seen each other.”
“Right? I so miss bunking classes and going by the dam,” her best friend replied with a hint of sadness in her tone. “Everything feels so mundane without you around.”
“Hey! I know, right?” came the response, tinged with a hint of sadness. They both lived in different cities now, and the distance felt like an ever-growing chasm between their lives.
Nikita smiled, even though her friend couldn’t see her. “I’ve been thinking… we need an adventure. Something to shake off this distance.”
“Like a trip?” her friend’s voice perked up at the suggestion.
“Yes! What about Meghalaya? We always talked about it, and I am seeing these gorgeous reels all across my feed too”.
Her friend perked up. “Oh my god, yes! You are not kidding, right?”
Nikita said, “ No, we are doing this! Let's go, Meghalaya is calling!”
Excitement bubbled between them, and for the first time in weeks, Nikita felt a spark of joy. They spent the next hour planning their trip with Thrillophilia, finding every detail, their laughter echoing through the phone. As they hung up, Nikita smiled, knowing this trip would not only be an adventure but a way to reconnect, reminding them that no distance could dim their bond.
To Beginnings and New Bonds
Nikita and her best friend kicked off their Meghalaya adventure with a visit to Cherrapunji, starting at the stunning Elephant Falls. The sound of rushing water was a refreshing welcome, and they were enchanted by the beauty surrounding them.
After soaking in the beauty, they continued their adventure to the Seven Sisters and Nohkalikai waterfalls. Each waterfall was a breathtaking sight, but Nohkalikai captivated them the most with its dramatic drop and lush surroundings. They stood in awe, feeling like they were part of a magical painting, excited for the adventures yet to come.
Later, they explored the Mawsmai and Arwah caves. The ice broke as they chatted with fellow travellers, forming quick friendships as they explored the caves. Joining a group tour turned out to be a great choice as they met friendly fellow travellers who shared laughter and stories.
Rooting for Rainbows!
The duo set out on their thrilling trek to the Double Decker Root Bridge in Nongriat, eager for the adventure that awaited them. The path wound through lush greenery, with the sound of chirping birds and rustling leaves accompanying their every step. They laughed and encouraged each other, the anticipation building with each downward step.
However, as they descended deeper into the forest, the trail grew steeper and the humidity thickened. They exchanged playful banter, but soon fatigue began to settle in. “I can’t feel my feet at all! I think I’m part tree now!” Nikita joked, panting as they paused to catch their breath.
As they finally approached the bridge, the sight took their breath away. The roots twisted and turned, creating a natural masterpiece that seemed to blend seamlessly with the forest. They crossed it carefully, feeling as though they were walking in a dream.
Later, they trekked to Rainbow Falls, the sound of rushing water guiding them. When they arrived, the scene before them was nothing short of magical; the waterfall cascaded down, glimmering as sunlight danced on the water's surface. They stood in awe, their hearts full, knowing this moment would forever be the highlight of their trip.
From Nostalgia to New Memories
They felt like their journey to Mawlynnong, Asia’s Cleanest Village was unreal like those childhood paintings.
Nikita and her friend wandered through the charming village, where colourful flowers lined the paths and the air was fresh and pure. They interacted with the friendly locals, sharing smiles and stories. One highlight was trying local Thaipo, which looked like giant momos, soft, delicious, and filled with flavours that delighted their taste buds.
After soaking in the village’s simplicity, they headed to Dawki for a boating adventure on the Umngot River. As they glided over the crystal-clear waters, the scene felt like something straight out of their Instagram dreams. They couldn’t resist capturing the moment, snapping iconic pictures with the stunning backdrop.
Amidst the laughter and excitement, a wave of nostalgia hit them. For a brief moment, they felt like carefree students again, reliving memories from class 12th, laughing at inside jokes and sharing dreams of the future.
It was a day filled with connection, joy, and the kind of magic that turns moments into cherished memories.
A Promise of Reunion
In Nikita’s words, “ On this trip, we made lots of memories with new people. The itinerary was well-planned. The hotels were good too. Our driver made sure we reached safely to every place. Overall experience with Thrillophilia was very good. We are looking forward to many more trips with Thrillophilia.”
They had heard stories of Meghalaya’s beauty, but nothing prepared them for the ethereal world that greeted them. Every corner seemed painted by nature’s delicate hand- mist-covered mountains, emerald rivers, and waterfalls that fell like silver threads from the heavens.
As they looked at each other, an unspoken promise passed between them. This adventure was like no other and as they took back the forged memories home, an unspoken promise passed between them, a life of no longing, a future full of new memories.
