Long Roads, Quiet Moments, and a Journey Within: Rajib’s Solo Escape To Kerala With Thrillophilia

Where His Solo Chapter in Kerala Truly Began

For Rajib Bhattacharjee, this Kerala trip arrived at just the right moment in life. He had been wanting time away from responsibilities, noise and the everyday work. A solo getaway felt like a chance to pause, breathe and explore at his own pace. When he chose Kerala, he hoped the landscapes, culture and quiet corners of God’s Own Country would offer the escape he had been longing for.

On the day he arrived in Kochi, the city welcomed him with its warm air, busy streets and the soft smell of the sea. With a smooth check-in and a comfortable stay waiting for him, he felt the excitement of beginning his journey. He was travelling alone, but with Thrillophilia’s arrangements in place, he already felt supported.

A Day in Kochi: Where History Meets the Sea

His first day in Kochi set a beautiful tone for the rest of the trip. After settling into his hotel, he stepped out to explore the city’s cultural corners. Fort Kochi, with its Portuguese and Dutch architecture, instantly drew him in. The seaside breeze, old buildings and the slow rhythm of the place made him feel like he had stepped back in time.

A short walk along Marine Drive gave him the calm he was looking for. The water, the sky and the open walkway created a space where he could simply be. His visit to Santacruz Basilica Church added another layer of peace, and the intricate interiors made him pause long enough to appreciate the history it held.

Later, he spent time at Cherai Beach, watching waves roll gently toward the shore. It was the kind of evening that reminded him why he chose to travel solo, a moment where silence felt comforting rather than lonely.

The Road to Munnar: A Scenic Stretch of Nature and Thought

The next morning, he checked out and began his journey to Munnar. The drive through the hills was filled with greenery on all sides, and the sound of waterfalls made the experience feel dreamlike. His stop at Valara and Cheeyappara waterfalls became one of the first highlights of his day. The misty spray, the roar of the water and the cool air around the falls made him feel refreshed.

His driver, Mr Liju, made the entire journey smooth. Rajib noticed not just his professionalism but also his kindness. He drove carefully through the winding roads, checked if Rajib was comfortable and pointed out sights that were worth stopping for. To a solo traveller, this sense of care added reassurance.

The optional visit to Athirappilly Waterfalls, known for its scale and beauty, was another special moment. Standing in front of the grand waterfall, Rajib felt a sense of wonder that words could barely hold.

By the time he reached his hotel in Munnar, the mist, the hills and the quiet atmosphere made him feel instantly grounded. The evening was left for rest, giving him space to slow down and enjoy a peaceful night.

Munnar: A Quiet World Wrapped in Green

His full day of sightseeing in Munnar on day three was a blend of learning, nature and introspection. Rajamalai National Park, home to rare wildlife, welcomed him with fresh mountain air and scenic views. The hills looked endless, and walking through the park felt like entering another world.

Echo Point, with its wide open valley and panoramic views, became a place where he sat quietly for a while. The echo bouncing back from the hills made him smile, reminding him of childhood memories.

Tata Tea Estate added a touch of culture to the day. Watching the process of tea making, learning about flavours and walking along green stretches felt calming. He took slow steps, allowing the surroundings to lead him instead of rushing through.

Later, the stillness at Mattupetty Dam and the gentle waters of Kundala Lake created a sense of quiet happiness. Blossom Park added colour to the day, and the lively atmosphere made him appreciate the simplicity of nature.

The day ended with an optional ziplining experience at Nadiyar Road, a thrilling moment that reminded him that solo travel could be both peaceful and exciting.

Thekkady: Forests That Invite Stillness

On day 4, he left Munnar and made his way to Thekkady. The change in landscape was noticeable. The forests grew denser, the air smelt of earth and spices, and the roads looked wild and beautiful.

Periyar National Park became one of his favourite spots. A canter safari through the sanctuary surrounded him with tall trees, open wildlife spaces and the sound of the forest breathing slowly. The elephant habitats, the birds and the raw, untouched nature made him pause and appreciate the depth of the wilderness.

Elephant Junction added warmth to the day as he interacted with elephants, watched them being cared for and learnt about their behaviour. The Periyar Lake boat ride later in the afternoon was the perfect way to unwind. The calm water, the cool breeze and the view of the hills reflected on the lake created a picture he would carry home.

In the evening, he explored local markets and spice gardens, picking up small things that reminded him of the region’s flavours.

Alleppey: Where Backwaters Slow Down Time

On the 5th day, he travelled to Alleppey. The backwaters, lined with coconut trees and small villages, felt like a soft embrace. His hotel stay was comfortable, and after some rest, he headed for his day cruise.

The houseboat cruise through the backwaters was peaceful. As the boat moved slowly through the canals, life along the banks unfolded gently. Villagers going about their routines, fishing nets drying under the sun, children waving from the shore, and birds flying low across the water made the entire ride memorable.

Alleppey Beach brought a change of scenery with its vast coastline and golden light. The Alleppey Lighthouse Museum added a touch of history, offering quiet corners to explore and reflect. That night, he slept with the feeling of a day well spent.

A Calm Goodbye to Kerala

On day 6, he checked out of his hotel and travelled back to Kochi. The drive was smooth, and with each passing kilometre, he felt grateful for everything the trip had offered him. The landscapes, the moments of silence, the adventures, the support from his driver and the constant check-ins from Rupali, his tour coordinator, made him feel valued.

Rajib’s solo escape to Kerala was not just a holiday. It was a chance to step away, reflect and rediscover the joy of travelling alone. The tea gardens, forests, beaches and backwaters gave him exactly what he needed. The kindness of Mr Liju and the consistent support from Rupali made the experience smooth, safe and meaningful.

He returned home with quiet confidence, a refreshed mind and a travel chapter he would remember for years. For him, Kerala became a place where long roads, quiet moments and a journey within came together beautifully.
