The Himalayan Harmony: Sarah and Cynthia’s Bhutan Trip with Thrillophilia
Every unforgettable journey begins with the right company and an open heart.
For Sarah Muschler and her close friend Cynthia Krukowska, their long-awaited trip to Bhutan felt like stepping into a world where nature, culture, and kindness blended seamlessly.
Even before they boarded the car from Siliguri, Sarah felt reassured. Thrillophilia’s team supported them with every tiny detail, planning the customised itinerary, answering their questions with patience, and ensuring they felt completely prepared.
Little did they know that this trip would become one of their most treasured memories.
A Journey of Friendship, Trust, and Discovery
From the moment their car pulled away from Siliguri and moved toward Phuentsholing, something shifted inside Sarah.
The noise slowly faded. The hills got greener. The air felt lighter. And with Cynthia by her side, the journey suddenly felt more comforting and exciting.
They reached Bhutan’s border town by noon, completed their immigration formalities smoothly, and continued deeper into the mountains. By the time they arrived in Thimphu, clouds were settling softly over the valley, setting the perfect tone for the days ahead.
Their hotel welcomed them with warm smiles, and that first dinner, a simple Bhutanese meal, made them feel like they had arrived somewhere truly special.
Thimphu’s Magic: Where Peace Meets Culture

The next morning unfolded like a postcard. After breakfast, they visited the magnificent Buddha Dordenma. Standing beneath the giant golden statue, overlooking the valley, Sarah felt a calmness she didn’t know she needed.
Their guide was not just informative, but he was also genuinely warm. He answered every question with patience, explained the stories behind every place, and even managed extra services at one of the hotels for them. His care made the journey feel effortless.
As they walked through Kuensel Phodrang Nature Park, the wind carried the scent of pine trees, and Cynthia teased Sarah about stopping every two minutes to click pictures. They laughed, soaking in the tranquillity.
Later, they drove to Punakha, stopping at scenic viewpoints and capturing pictures that looked too beautiful to be real.
The sight of Punakha Dzong, standing proudly between two rivers, left both of them speechless. Walking inside its majestic halls, with soft sunlight slipping in through wooden windows, felt surreal.
On their way back to Thimphu, they entered a peaceful stretch of Jigme Dorji National Park- quiet, raw, and breathtaking. It was one of those pauses in the journey that stays with you long after the trip ends.
Whispers of Wonder in Paro

Day three began with a scenic drive to Paro. They dropped their luggage at the hotel and immediately headed out, excited for everything ahead.
Their first stop was the National Museum of Bhutan, where ancient artefacts and stories transported them back in time.
Right after that, they explored Paro Rinpung Dzong, its courtyards echoing with the soft chants of monks.
But the true highlight was the hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery.
The moment they stepped on the trail, pine forests surrounded them, prayer flags fluttered in the wind, and the earthy smell of the mountains filled the air. Each step brought feelings of accomplishment, excitement, and gratitude.
Sarah and Cynthia motivated each other along the way, laughing, panting, taking breaks, and building memories that felt priceless.
When they finally reached the viewpoint, the monastery stood proudly on the cliffside, defying gravity.
Sarah turned to Cynthia and whispered with a smile,
“Can you believe we’re actually here?”
They stood together, inhaling the cool mountain breeze, feeling small before the grandeur of the Himalayas.
Unexpected Surprises and Little Moments
One of the most heartwarming memories came from something unplanned.
While driving between towns, their guide suddenly stopped at a small temple tucked away in the mountains.
It wasn’t part of the itinerary, but it ended up becoming one of their favourite places.
The quietness. The spinning prayer wheels. The gentle chanting in the background.
Everything made them pause and simply be.
Experiences like these reminded them that sometimes the unplanned moments become the most cherished ones.
A Sweet Farewell

As their trip came to an end, Sarah felt a familiar tug in her heart. They checked out from their hotel in Paro, loaded their bags, and began the drive back towards Siliguri and Bagdogra.
The journey was filled with soft music, shared stories, and a comfortable silence that only true friendship understands.
Before reaching the airport, they even stopped at a few scenic spots and small stalls; picking up souvenirs, tasting snacks, and capturing their last glimpses of Bhutan.
The mountains slowly faded from view, but the memories stayed strong.
A Moment of Gratitude
Looking back, Sarah describes her Bhutan trip with pure warmth:
“The tour was really great. The support was amazing, our guide was so friendly, the hotels were lovely, and we could customize everything. Bhutan was beautiful and peaceful. We’re really thankful for this experience.”
From perfectly planned transfers to delicious meals, from surprising temples to breathtaking viewpoints, everything came together to give Sarah and Cynthia the Himalayan adventure they had dreamed of.
Bhutan wasn’t just a destination for them; it was a feeling of peace, friendship, and gratitude. And a journey they will cherish forever.
