Shital’s Christmas Getaway to Singapore with Family
Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glows…..
Every December morning, I wake up my son singing this beloved Christmas carol. Afterall, Christmas is one of our most favourite holidays and I try my best to make it as jolly and festive as possible.
Whether it is starting the day with some carols or spending the evening watching Christmas movies with homemade hot cocoa- December makes every moment magical!
By this time, my son had become pretty fond of Santa Claus and Rudolph. After every movie, he started saying, “Mom, I want to meet Santa. Mom, I want to see a big Christmas Tree!”.....and this would go on for several days.
This year, I got the idea that it's time to add to our family tradition, a trip before Christmas! It would be the perfect pre-Christmas celebration.
So, one day, my husband and I decided to make the upcoming Christmas a little more special, something that our son will remember forever! We started looking for the most popular destinations to celebrate Christmas and out of several options, Singapore caught our eye the most.
Merry Moments Await…..!
Since December was the peak month and our’s was a very last minute plan, we had little hope. However, we tried our best to make it a success.
Thankfully, we stumbled upon Thrillophilia’s website who helped us arrange it all quite efficiently. In no time, we got confirmation on our hotel room, tickets for the attractions and even private transfers. Honestly, their help was a total game changer for us.
After finalising everything, the next day I woke up my son with his favourite Christmas carol and whispered in his ear, “Do you wish to meet Santa?”
With a sudden burst of energy, he sprang up and cheered, 'Yesss!' like he'd just won the lottery.
If I am being honest, my husband and I were as excited as our son. This would mark our first-ever Christmas getaway, and the excitement was already building.
Tis’ the Season for a Magical Christmas Getaway!
Apart from all the exciting attractions in Singapore, Gardens by the Bay was our highlight as this is where we celebrated our Christmas. It was the second day of our trip and our excitement was at its peak.
Even before entering the attraction, we could see the crowd going crazy with their excitement and festive spirit. People were dressed up in their best Christmas attire with accessories like reindeer headbands and red Santa caps.
On top of that, every corner of the street was dazzling with numerous colourful lights and Christmas decorations- we knew right then that this was going to be our most memorable Christmas ever!
After finally reaching our much awaited destination, we were simply left in awe. I may fall short of words, but it was so, so beautiful.
The entire area was lit up with numerous lights, at one corner there were live performances while at another we could hear people screaming while enjoying rides. There were various foods as well as shopping stalls, especially for the occasion of Christmas.
Let me just say that we made every cent count and indulged in every possible experience. Starting from trying plenty of fun rides to exploring various sections of Gardens by the Bay, we toured every corner.
And, let’s not forget that we ate so, so, so much, grabbing almost every food item from different food stalls. And, by the end of the day we were so full that we could not even walk.
My favourite was corn dogs and oh! I loved its cheese pull, it was so delicious. My husband and son, being alike, loved the burgers the most.
The highlight of the day was when my son got to meet Santa Claus and there was no limit to his happiness. He kept jumping, screaming with joy and there was an endless smile on his face. Not just Santa, we also got to see a lot of beautifully decorated Christmas trees and even met a few other cartoon characters.
It was truly a wholesome day and the best Christmas till date!
Bringing Home the Best Memories and Gifts!
We had planned this trip a few days before Christmas and not exactly on the 25th.
Simply because we wanted to stay at home and follow our own traditions which was to snuggle up in a cosy blanket, watch a fun Christmas movie and have a delicious dinner together as a family.
So, to celebrate our Christmas back at home, we got the perfect decorations for our house from Singapore. We even got matching sweaters for all three of us which we wore on Christmas eve. Also, we got plenty of presents for our relatives and friends.
It was the perfect Christmas, even better than I could have ever imagined. More than anything, the best feeling was that we became the real Santa for our son and fulfilled his wish.
And just like this years’, I wish to make every Christmas special and memorable for my family.
