Art, Architecture & Adventure: Swaswati’s Europe Trip with Thrillophilia

When life presents you with opportunities to travel, seize them and explore Europe!

When her husband asked where she wanted to go for their next trip, Swaswati immediately thought of Rome and Paris, which topped her list. Being a super organised person, Swaswati wanted her trip to be well-planned and curated to her desires.

Having heard about Thrillophilia from her friends, she decided to give them a try before finalising her plans. To her amazement, the team managed everything, including the visa application and all travel arrangements. Swaswati felt relieved and even more excited to travel, especially since she and her husband would be going with other people. As a complete social butterfly, she looked forward to the company.

Traversing Through History

Europe is a continent known for preserving its art and culture. From the streets to architectural wonders to museums and gardens, everything reflects a glorious history. Swaswati was a bookworm and learning about different cultures always intrigued her. The trip ignited her passion even more when she roamed the ruins and monuments of Rome, Vatican City, and Florence.

Her personal favourite was the Colosseum, where she enjoyed learning about the battles and combats that took place there. They also had the opportunity to visit the famous Trevi Fountain and make a wish. Vatican City was equally fascinating, rich in sacred and spiritual history, along with astonishing architecture. The highlight of the trip was visiting St. Peter’s Basilica. She was stunned by the grandiosity of its Renaissance architecture and recognised its significance as a symbol of power, a pilgrimage site, and a treasure trove of art.

Talking about art and history, Paris was the hub of it all. They were captivated by the historical charm of the city, the gothic architecture of Notre-Dame Cathedral, the collection of art and the exhibits of The Louvre Museum. Paris felt like a living museum, where every monument and street seemed to whisper tales of the past.

Adventure in Heaven

The trip was a blend of different things, and Swaswati and her husband also got to do some adventure activities in Switzerland and Venice. In Lucerne, they spent a day skiing on the pristine slopes, surrounded by snow-capped mountains and crisp, fresh air. The thrill of gliding down the slopes was exhilarating, and the stunning alpine scenery added a magical touch to their skiing adventure. They also had a chance to visit Interlaken for a short time to enjoy the Alpine Slide which made the trip even more fun and amazing. The alpine slide gliding through the scenic views of heavenly Switzerland made the roller coasters in the world less fun and interesting!

In Venice, the couple embarked on a serene gondola ride through the city's iconic canals. The experience was both romantic and peaceful, as they glided past centuries-old buildings and under charming bridges. The soothing sound of the gondolier's oars and the beauty of the city made for a truly memorable moment. They both experienced a romantic thrill and fell in love with the beauty of Italy!

Happy Doses of Food, Culture & Love

Their European escapade was filled with delicious food, rich culture, and moments of love that will last a lifetime. In Rome, they savoured authentic Italian food, which was Swaswati’s favourite. Pizzas and different pastas, each bursting with fresh flavours. In Florence, the lemon ravioli and gelato were unlike anything they have ever tasted! The best times were enjoying gelato and wandering through the city’s stunning artistic and vibrant streets.

Their cultural adventure continued in Vatican City, where they learned all about the Roman Catholic Church, led by the Pope. They also had the opportunity to witness a religious event on the streets, where people were organising a small parade. The highlight for them was the Sistine Chapel, with Michelangelo's famous ceiling frescoes that showcase the rich artistic heritage of Italy. Speaking of cultural experiences, Paris was filled with magnificent art and historical landmarks, making it a perfect destination for art lovers. The Louvre and Notre-Dame Cathedral were definite highlights for Swaswati.

Swaswati had the most romantic time in Paris, especially when they were swept away by the feeling of awe on the top of the Eiffel Tower. As they stood at the top, gazing at the twinkling lights of the city, they felt an overwhelming sense of love and connection. To end their journey, they took a Seine river cruise, floating past Paris’s iconic landmarks, the soft breeze and sparkling city lights making it a perfect moment of peace and love.

As their journey through Europe came to an end, Swaswati and her husband reflected on the incredible experiences they had shared. The trip not only deepened their appreciation for art, culture, and architecture but also strengthened their bond, as they explored the world together, made new friends, discovered new cuisines, and made memories that will stay with them forever.
