Vaibhav's Thrillophilia Review of a Scenic Getaway to Andaman

There are places you visit, and then there are places that stay with you forever, etched in your heart like a remarkable dream.
Andaman was one such place.
When Wasim and I planned this trip, we were just looking for a getaway, a chance to step away from the chaos of daily life and breathe in the ocean air. We expected sandy beaches and turquoise waters, but what we found was something far more profound. A place where nature ruled, where time slowed down, and where every experience felt like a discovery.

The moment we landed in Port Blair, I knew this trip would be different. The island air had a freshness to it, thick with the scent of the sea and the forests. The palm trees swayed gently in the tropical breeze as if they were welcoming us to their world.
“Feels like we have stepped into a different reality,” Wasim remarked as we collected our bags.
I nodded, taking in the sight of the vibrant blue sky stretching endlessly above us. “And one that I do not mind getting lost in.”
With excitement bubbling inside us, we hopped into our cab and put our sunglasses on, all ready to explore the paradise we had only seen in pictures.
First Impressions in the Timeless Charm of Port Blair

Port Blair had a certain charm - a mix of history and untouched beauty that made it unique. Our first stop was Corbyn Cove Beach, just a short drive from the airport. As we walked along the shore, the waves gently kissed the sand and left behind tiny foam trails that sparkled under the afternoon sun.
Sitting on the shore, I turned to Wasim. “This is exactly what we needed.”
He nodded, watching the waves. “Feels like time slows down here.”

As the sun dipped lower, we made our way to the Cellular Jail. The stories embedded in its walls transported us to a time when freedom came at a cost. The Light and Sound Show brought history to life. Its narration made us feel as if we were standing in the past, witnessing the struggles of those who had once walked these very halls.
That night, we walked back to our hotel, quiet but deeply moved. The Andaman Islands had nature’s soul, and we were just beginning to understand it.
The Crown Jewel of Havelock Island

The next morning, we boarded a ferry to Havelock Island, a name we had heard countless times before but never truly appreciated - until now. The ride itself was mesmerising. The water was so blue that it felt like an artist had poured an entire palette of blue and white shades into the sea.
As we approached Radhanagar Beach, I knew why it was often ranked among the most beautiful beaches in the world- the sand was so white that it looked like fine powdered sugar beneath our feet. The water stretched out in an endless turquoise sheet and reflected the sky above so perfectly that the horizon seemed to merge with the sky.

We waded into the water and let the waves wrap around us in a soft embrace. Unlike the crowded beaches we had been to in the past, this one felt untouched and almost sacred.
After a while, Wasim turned to me. “Ever seen anything this perfect?”
I shook my head. “Not even close.”
We spent hours floating in the water, feeling the warmth of the sun on our skin and listening to the soothing crash of waves against the shore. It was the kind of place where time did not matter - only the moment did.
A World Beneath the Waves

The next day brought an experience neither of us would forget - snorkelling at Elephant Beach.
I had always loved the ocean, but I had never gone beneath the surface. As we put on our snorkels and waded into the water, my heart pounded. The moment I dipped my head below, everything changed.
The world beneath the surface was alive - a riot of colours and mystery. Schools of fish darted past in shimmering silvers and blues. Corals stretched like underwater forests, their shapes intricate and delicate.

At one point, Wasim tapped my arm and pointed ahead. A giant parrotfish, its scales gleaming in hues of emerald and sapphire, glided past us. For a few seconds, we simply watched, in awe of how gracefully it moved.
When we finally surfaced, I removed my snorkel, smiling. “That was unbelievable.”
Wasim laughed, shaking water from his hair. “That was an unbelievable experience!”
The Hidden Gem at Kalapather Beach

While Radhanagar Beach was stunning, Kalapathar Beach was a hidden treasure. This stretch of coastline, lined with black volcanic rocks against golden sand, had a raw and untamed beauty. There were no bustling crowds - just the sea, the wind, and us.
We walked along the shore, and the waves brushed against our feet, leaving cool trails in the sand. The air smelled of salt and adventure, the kind that makes you want to sit and simply exist in the universe.

At one point, we stopped and sat on one of the large black boulders and let the waves crash around us. Unlike the gentle and lazy waves of Radhanagar, the ocean here was wilder - untamed, almost as if it had its own personality.
“This place feels different,” Wasim said.
I nodded. “It has got a kind of magic, doesn’t it?”
We sat there, watching the sun painting the sky with shades of dusk. At that point, we felt completely at peace sitting in silence.
A Sunset Farewell at Bharatpur Beach

For our final evening in Andaman, we visited Bharatpur Beach on Neil Island, which is famous for its stunning sunsets.
Unlike the secluded Kalapathar, Bharatpur had a liveliness to it. People were scattered across the shore, indulging in water sports, taking boat rides, or simply relaxing by the sea. We opted for a glass-bottom boat ride, and as we glided over the water, we watched the colourful marine life accompany us from below.

However, the real magic began when the sun started to set. The sky transformed into a masterpiece of fiery reds, deep purples, and golden yellows, reflecting beautifully on the water.
As the last rays of sunlight faded into the horizon, I took a deep breath and let the moment sink in. Andaman had given us both an unexpected connection with nature and a longing to return again and again!
