Shobha’s Paris Thrillophilia Review: Exploring the Magic of the City of Lights
It was a cool, crisp evening in Paris, and the night was young. After devouring a hearty dinner (a lot of pizzas) at a cozy little bistro, we decided to take a midnight stroll to digest the food and soak in the beauty of the city.
As we walked down the cobblestone streets, my son was making jokes about how he’d never eaten so much pizza in his life. My husband was still trying to figure out how we ended up with three pizzas for three people.
“You said you were hungry!” I reminded him, laughing as we walked past the twinkling lights of the city.
The streets were quiet, but there was a peaceful energy all around us. We passed locals sitting at outdoor cafes, the sound of soft French music drifting through the air. It felt like we were living in a movie. The Eiffel Tower loomed in the distance, its lights sparkling like a thousand stars. I couldn't help but feel incredibly lucky to be here, in this magical city with my family.
The Star of Paris!
We started our trip in the ‘City of Love’ with a hop-on-hop-off bus tour covering the popular landmarks of this beautiful destination.
The next day, we woke up with excitement buzzing in the air. We had planned to visit the Eiffel Tower, and I couldn’t contain my enthusiasm. I’ve dreamed about this moment for as long as I can remember. The Eiffel Tower wasn’t just a monument to me— it was a symbol of dreams, love, and adventure.
I had first heard about it when I was a little girl, watching an old movie where the protagonist visited Paris. Back then, I had no idea what Paris was, but I knew about the Eiffel Tower. It was the thing that stood out to me.
So, standing in front of it now, my heart skipped a beat. The tower was even more magnificent in person than I had imagined. The view from the top was nothing short of breathtaking. You could see the entire city spread out before you— Paris looked like a beautiful canvas. My husband and I exchanged a look of pure joy, and my son, always the adventurer, was already planning where we should go next. It was one of those moments that you know you’ll cherish forever.
Sailing the Heart of Paris!
Thrillophilia had also planned a relaxing River Seine cruise for us. The boat ride was peaceful, yet full of excitement. We sailed past some of Paris’s most iconic landmarks— the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Louvre Museum, and of course, the Eiffel Tower, which looked even more magical from the river.
We were served a delicious three-course meal on board. The French onion soup was my personal favorite, and my son couldn’t get enough of the crème brûlée. We all laughed, enjoying the food and the company. The evening sky turned a beautiful shade of pink as the sun began to set, and I couldn’t help but think how lucky we were to experience this as a family.
A World of Wonders!
The next day was all about fun, and we couldn’t wait to explore Disneyland Paris. As we entered the park, my son was practically jumping with excitement.
“I’ve been so waiting for this day!” he said, pulling us toward the first ride.
We started with the roller coasters, and let me tell you, it was a wild ride. My husband, who usually hates rides, ended up screaming like a kid while I was laughing so hard that I nearly fell out of my seat. We spent hours hopping from one ride to the next, each more thrilling than the last.
We also met some of our favorite Disney characters, and I even managed to snap a selfie with Mickey Mouse. After all the excitement, we refueled with some of the park’s famous snacks. My son devoured a massive churro, and I couldn’t resist trying the cotton candy. As we sat down for a break, I realized how much fun it was to let loose and act like kids again. Disneyland had that magic effect on all of us.
A Snowy Wonderland!
Our next adventure took us to Switzerland, where we visited the stunning Mt. Titlis. The views were so incredible that we felt like we were on top of the world.
The cable car ride was an experience in itself, and we were treated to panoramic views of snow-capped mountains and valleys below. As we reached the top, I couldn’t believe how surreal it felt to be surrounded by snow. The air was crisp, and the atmosphere was peaceful, but it was also incredibly thrilling.
Next, we hopped onto the Ice Flyer chairlift, which took us even higher, offering us a chance to see the entire glacier. My son, who’s always up for an adventure, was the first to jump off the lift and start exploring. Meanwhile, my husband and I were trying to keep up, laughing at how out of breath we were. After some time, we found a quiet spot, away from the crowds, where we could just sit and take in the beauty of the place.
And just like that, we knew that no matter where life took us next, we would always have this trip to look back on. It was a journey of love, laughter, and unforgettable moments.
Sometimes, it’s not about the destination but the people you’re with and the memories you create along the way. This trip to Paris was one for the books, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
